What is SNAC?
SNAC refers to the Special Needs Advisory Committee. SNAC is a committee that advises the school board on policies that apply to students with special needs and on the allocation of financial resources to the serves intended for these students. The committee is mandated by the Education Act which states that “every school board shall establish an advisory committee on services for handicapped students and students with social maladjustments or learning disabilities”.

Who are its members?
The committee is made up of parents of students on an IEP, teachers, school administrators, professionals, commissioners, support staff and representatives from community agencies.

How do I get involved?
On September 26th 2018, parents of students with special needs, who are interested, will be selected to hold positions on the committee. All parents of students on an IEP are encouraged to attend. Cast your vote for the selection of members and get involved!

When are SNAC meetings?
Special Needs Advisory Committee meetings are held monthly. All parents of students on an IEP are welcome to attend and observe the monthly meetings. There are two public question periods each meeting.

What if I still have questions?
Should you have a question, please feel free to contact SNAC by email: snac@lbpearson.ca
